In 2015, I started noticing that people were simultaneously posting the same things, complementary things, or directly opposing things on Instagram. It was like, without knowing it, people all over the world were having concurrent one-sided conversations—some with friends, some with strangers, some with people on that spectrum—about the same thing. Sure, there were the usual coincidental flowers and #foodporn, but there were also funny takes on birds, eye exam selfies, and museums posting similar paintings at exactly the same time.

The images below were captured within 5 posts of each other, back when Instagram still had a chronological timeline (the good ol' days, is I think what we're calling it now). I haven't edited or cropped any of these images from their originals.
